Now that I have the vise installed, I don't know how I got by without it! it is substantial (as in heavy and well-made) and easily installed.Very heavy, sturdy vise. Though the screw may not be an acme screw ? it is a well made screw and i checked it, though it is not installed yet, the screw travel is smooth and happy with vise. By clamping it and a layer of woodspacing to the bottom of bench top, it will be easy to drill holes in top and install the vise. It does have an angled face on the vise, as some noted, but it is supposed to. I will add a thick hardwood block face to it, and can take out some of that angle if I wish, by leaving a 3 or 4 percent angle on the wood face, to cancel out about 1/2 of that angle on the steel vise face. I am also going to apply a leather cover on the wooden blocks, so that will also help ease the angle a tiny bit. Very nice vise, appropriate price. It is NOT quick release, and i did NOT WANT quick release, becase sometimes that part of a vise fails. This vise should not fail. The mounting holes are not in line with each other. It would be nice if you gave mounting ideas, how heavy the mount area should be, What size and thread the face plates are for the wood covers. A little more effort on your part would been nice.I added two pieces of plywood for clamping with earth magnets imbedded in them and it works great for woodworking, very heavy duty vise and easy to installAn ok tool, not perfectly made but good enough to do the job for which it is intended, at a reasonable price. The angle that the two jaws come together is quite acute and the edge of the jaw is sharp so the edge will damage your clamped boardqualityIts a little stiff but definitely works great. Seems tough, mounts nicely.
