Two of the jugs contained a hard solid like hard ice, and two contained a normal looking liquid. It turns out that acetic acid freezes solid a bit below normal room temperature, and takes a long time to absorb heat from it's surroundings. So my two hard jugs sat for a whole day at room temp and did not turn liquid. I finally put them (sealed) into a sink with 150 f water for several hours adding hot water periodically. The were completely liquid by the end of the day. Obviously the box was packed with bottles stored in different areas of a warehouse, two maybe near a cold doorway, or two near a warm window. Anyway, they are all good now. Home Depot wants $23.00 for 30% acetic (vinegar). These were around $50 per gallon and each one will make a little more than 3 30% gallons. I use acetic mixed to 30% to kill weeds in and near my food gardens. It usually kills the entire plant, it only kills what it touches, and it is entirely gone in a few days. It is not poisonous to humans or animals. High concentrations like 30% it can burn your skin and damage your lungs and eyes. The first time I used it I wore no protection. It got all over my hands. It didn't hurt, but the next day my skin started peeling off my hands. Just the outer layer. They were a little tender and then fine a couple of days later. So WEAR GLOVES. I used it outdoors with a slight breeze but a couple of times the smell got so strong I had to hold my breath. Either apply more slowly or wear a chemical mask when using. Eye protection is definitely a must. It is pretty easy to deal with. I tried normal vinegar and it was ineffective. Some people mix salt and vinegar, but salt in the soil prevents plant growth and is sometimes hard to remediate, and if you have fruit trees it is disastrous to get salt in the soil around their roots, it can kill the tree. Acetic could kill your foliage but most trees can recover easily if accidentally sprayed. There is no toxic residue from acetic and it is approved for use in organic farming. This was a good purchase.
